What is the CQC?
The CQC stands for Care Quality Commission
They are England's independent regulatory body for all things health and social care. This includes domiciliary, live in and complex care providers.
They are guided by a Board of individual experts who set out the organisation's overall strategy, goals and values. They meet six times a year. The day-to-day running of the CQC is by an Executive Team who manage, set up and deliver on the organisations key tasks including registering care providers and organising inspections.
Key to the whole operation of the CQC are the Inspectors themselves - the individuals who go out to inspect, review and rate care providers.
